Can’t decide which ones to visit? Join one of the tour companies or if you’re feeling adventurous, embark on a cycling tour of the wine region with a local guide.

3. Beneath the stars

A couple’s escape to the country is all about leaving the iPads at home and reconnecting with each other and nature, and there’s no better way to do that than camping under a starlit sky. You’ll find a huge variety of camping and caravanning spots in the Southern Downs and Granite Belt, from National Parks, to tourist parks and bush camping too.

4. Cosy BnBs

Enjoy some old fashioned romance in the most tranquil and private of settings at a cosy BnB, many of which offer fireside snugglefests. For a luxury romantic getaway with all of the trimmings, don’t miss Spicers Peak Lodge or Alure Stanthorpe (three words: Heated outdoor spa).

5. Queen Mary Falls

Visiting Queen Mary Falls is a must do on any romantic Southern Downs and Granite Belt trip. Embark on the easy Queen Mary Falls circuit, a 40-minute walk that takes you from the lookouts at the top of the falls to the creek below. Chase more waterfalls by heading off on The Falls Drive, which takes in Browns Falls, Daggs Falls, Queen Mary Falls and Carr’s Lookout and provides an alternative route home from Warwick to Brisbane via Boonah.
