Maryvale History and Heritage Weekend

Explore the Good Old Days at Bestbrook for free.

Bestbrook is celebrating all things old. The morning is kicking off with a Bush Poets Breakfast – this is not a competition it is more a chance for people to share their story in verse if they dare, it will be a walk up on the morning and give it a run.

The Coachhouse restaurant will be open from 7am for anyone who wants breakfast. The rest of the day will be full of demonstrations from the past, they will have Rohan from Gleneden Family Farm doing some Black Smithing and Whip Making. Cyril will be spinning a yarn and doing some butter making and billy tea and damper. Bruce will be showing of his horsemanship skill’s on a young horse and Mick will be shearing a sheep and Shoeing a horse or two.

Bestbrook has a wonderful collection of things from the good old days to ponder and wonder how they use to be used, the Maryvale Progress Association has prepared a display board featuring the original land sale from 1911 and a few old photos of when Maryvale had a train station.
