1. Polocrosse World Cup

Horses battle it out in Polocrosse match

See the world’s best battle it out at the Adina Polocrosse World Cup 2019 in Warwick this April – the biggest international sporting event to ever be held in rural Australia! Tens of thousands of spectators will visit Warwick and the Southern Downs for this world-class event.

Combining the strategy of netball, the toughness of rugby, and the ball skills of lacrosse, polocrosse is an Australian-made sport where action, power, skill and pace dominate. Polocrosse is an exciting sport for spectators, even for those who aren’t sports fans. While the horses and riders show off their talents on the field, spectators get up close to the action at the sidelines where they can literally feel the thunder of the horses’ hooves!

2. Snowflakes in Stanthorpe

The coolest town in Queensland is gearing up to host thousands of visitors on a winter family holiday with a guaranteed chance of throwing snowballs! Grab your beanies, scarves and mittens and head south to Snowflakes in Stanthorpe winter festival, taking place over three winter-themed magical days. The whole family will be kept busy at this biannual event, with snowfields, ice skating and a whole range of snow-themed activities! 3. Jumpers and Jazz in July

Warwick’s winter festival sees a transformation of the CBD streets into a living gallery, with more than 100 handmade “tree jumpers” that inspire and charm spectators even on the coldest of winter days. Jumpers and Jazz in July began in 2004 and 15 years later the quirky “tree jumper” project has expanded into a ten day art and music festival.

Visitors to Warwick are invited to immerse themselves in a program of exhibitions and events that range from a beaut family night around the Fire Drums of Killarney to indulging with a fine local wine to the sounds of elegant jazz at a charming country hotel. The festival program is an eclectic mix of events that, at their core, reflect our relaxed lifestyle and country hospitality. Be entertained by live jazz performances by some of South Queensland’s most popular jazz musicians to the backdrop of colourful knitted graffiti or a warm winter fire.

4. Historic Leyburn Sprints

Rev your engines! The Historic Leyburn Sprints returns to the Southern Downs, with over 200 cars racing around the streets of this quaint country village. Get amongst the action, checking out cars ranging from the 1920s to the modern classics. The Historic Leyburn Sprints commemorates the running of the Australian Grand Prix, held at Leyburn over 50 years ago.

Celebrity drivers, country markets, live music, a show n shine and a vintage caravan competition all add to the entertainment provided by this unique event in a fantastic country setting!

5. Warwick Rodeo and Gold Cup Campdraft

Every year for the last full week in October, the nation’s top rodeo riders and the best broncs and bucking bulls gather for the Warwick Rodeo – known far and wide as ‘Australia’s Most Famous’. If you’ve never attended a rodeo or campdraft before, prepare to see adrenaline pumping sport where you’ll witness Australia’s top cowboys versus Australia’s best bucking living livestock. You’ll hear the roar of the crowd, see the dust rising as the cowboy launches himself onto the beast and smell the victory! Keep the action going as you party on with live bands well into the night.
